Eoin Morgan seemed helpless against South Africa's assault as the body language of the English players dropped. Nasser Hussain, in the commentary box, said, "This is the toughest six overs Eoin Morgan would've faced as captain."

A few wickets at regular intervals helped England get back into the game. But JP Duminy punished their bowlers in the latter overs of the innings and became the third batsman in the innings to go past the 50-run mark. His unbeaten 28-ball 54 took South Africa to 229-4 in 20 overs.

Even as runs kept leaking, South Africa hit back with regular wickets.

England didn't waste too much time to launch a counter attack. 44 runs off the first 2 overs and 89 off the powerplay gave them an ideal platform to structure the chase.

Hashim Amla (right) and Quinton de Kock put on a 96-run stand off 7.1 overs to get South Africa off to a flying start. The former stroked his way to a 24-ball 52.

Eoin Morgan, England skipper, won the toss and elected to field at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Faf du Plessis, South Africa captain, wasn't too worried. He said that he 'wasn't sure' what to do had he won the toss. England came in with an unchanged XI.

Joe Root paced his innings brilliantly as he struck a 44-ball 83 to lead England to a two-wicket win. For his efforts with the bat, he was awarded the Man of the Match in the high-scoring encounter

AB de Villiers, who had smashed quickfire centuries in his previous two appearances at the Wankhede Stadium, hit consecutive sixes. However, his stay at the crease wasn't long enough to cause considerable damage.
